Privacy Policy

KnowTAM (“the app”) is published by Fly With Winston. We built KnowTAM to respect your privacy: you can use the app without an account, and we do not use advertising or cross-app tracking. A few optional features (a cloud account, cross-device sync, and reporting a content problem) involve a small amount of data, all described below.

What we do not do

We do not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs, and we do not sell your information. You are never required to create an account or give your name or email to study the app; an account is optional, only for the cloud sync described below.

Study progress is stored on your device

Your flashcard and quiz progress (which cards you’ve answered and your review schedule) is saved locally on your device. If you do not create an account, it stays on your device only, is not transmitted to any server, and is removed when you delete the app. If you opt into an account (below), your progress is also synced to our server so it follows you across devices.

Optional account and cloud sync

You can optionally create a free account to sync your progress and purchases across your devices. Signing in uses a one-time code sent to your email address; there is no password. If you create an account, we store your email address and your synced study data on our server (Supabase) for that purpose only. We do not use it for advertising and do not sell it. Using an account is entirely optional; the app works fully without one.

Reporting a content problem

If you use the in-app “Report a problem” button on a card, your message is sent to us so we can review and fix it. A name and email are included only if you choose to add them, and are used only to follow up on your report.

Purchases

Optional unlocks (Instrument, Commercial, Multi-Engine, the Checkride add-ons, and the All-Access Bundle) are one-time purchases processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment is handled entirely by those stores; we never see or store your payment details.

To validate your purchases and let you restore them after reinstalling or on another device, we use RevenueCat, a purchase-management service. RevenueCat receives a record of your purchases and an app-generated device identifier. This is used only to manage your unlocks; it is not linked to your name or email, and it is not used for advertising or to track you across other apps.

Promo and student codes

If you redeem a student or promo code, the code is sent to our server (Supabase) only to verify it is valid and prevent reuse. Redeeming a code does not require any personal information about you.

Affiliate links

The “Pilot Essentials” section links to products on Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, Fly With Winston earns from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you. Tapping a link opens Amazon in your browser, where Amazon’s own privacy policy applies.

Children’s privacy

KnowTAM is intended for student pilots and aviators and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we add features that change how data is handled (for example, optional cloud sync), we will update this policy and its effective date.
